In house designs, what type is it that has all the pretty painted scroll work around the outside porches?

That would be a Victorian style home and the scroll work is called ';gingerbread';. Some country style home with the wrap around porches have gingerbread trim on the porches. I hope this helps. In house designs, what type is it that has all the pretty painted scroll work around the outside porches?

I believe you're referring to Victorian architecture and the term most use for the scroll and fret work is ';gingerbread';. You see these homes in older neighborhoods and lots in San Fran.

Look up Painted Ladies and see many San Fran homes of this type.
